Why It Works

Odour

Odours are reduced by not allowing the manure to become anaerobic. By separating feces and urine in the barn and moving the urine immediately to treatment, enzyme activity is eliminated and odours are reduced. This and the elimination of the lagoon and liquid land disposal all contribute to reduction in odours.

Nutrient Management

Converting manure to dry fertilizer pellets allows not only the capture of more nutrients, but also the off-site sale of any surplus. The pellets provide a metered nutrient approach to crop fertilization and ease of application that is more controllable and consistent than liquid manure.

Greenhouse Gases

By eliminating anaerobic activity we eliminate greenhouse gas production, conserving approximately 95% of current emissions, however they are measured.

Ammonia

By moving the urine immediately, the feces enzymes no longer have much contact time. This improves in-barn air quality and reduces lung assaults for animals and staff, reducing air-shed degradation.

Pathogens

Pathogens in liquids are rendered harmless by pH shock, heat and Ultra-Violet treatment. Pathogens in solids are rendered harmless by heat during drying.

Water Management

By eliminating flushing and with recycling, water consumption is reduced by 50% or more.

Capital Cost

New installations will no longer need a lagoon and for those interested only in raising pigs there will be no need for acreage to dispose of manure. Retrofits will require barn modifications for manure collection. A new building will house the treatment plant that will run 24/7 with computer assisted monitoring by ATD. Larger installations (4,000+places) benefit from economies of scale and will recover investment from the sale of fertilizer and greenhouse gas offset credits as well as the saving of current management costs.

Operating Cost

Reduced odours, water and land requirements will allow relocating operations closer to feed mills or packing plants to reduce transportation costs. Fuel for drying can be provided by any available bio-mass as a substitute for dried feces.

Qualification of Clients

Each client will be provided with a customized forecast based on their current situation to show estimated capital, operating costs and revenue before any commitments are made.
